TVP UPDATE OCTOBER 2011

THE SCOTTISH QUESTION

The number one company in Cloud computing organises up to 20 events a month and this involves TVP sending our marketing collateral and pop up stands. It’s normally very straightforward, despatched one day and returned a couple of days later.

However this year there was a themed event at 5 different locations and rather than shipping back to TVP, we had to arrange to send them between events in the UK, Netherlands and Sweden.

The “Scottish Question”, well, one of the events was in Glasgow and when it finished, we had to collect the materials, catch a ferry and get them to Guinness in Dublin by the middle of the following day.

The weather was kind, the ferry ran and we made it, yes!!

SIMPLE MAILINGS - NOT US

You could call it showing off but we deliberately target complex mailings, so when a client came to us with a 40,000 mailing with 19 different letters, ranging from 230 to 9000 records, we said yes.

The first task was to clean the data, deduping, recasing and in particular checking for contact names or inserting a default.

Once that was sorted, we had to manage 3 different envelopes, 3 letterheads and 19 different datasheets.

It sounds like it should be straightforward and we’ve done it 6 times now but we picked the work up from another mailing house who hadn’t managed it.

A ONE OFF FOR LEGO

The latest Harry Potter film involved Lego reproducing a couple of the characters for promotional purposes.

These needed to be distributed to 15 different destinations, from London to Johannesburg.

Seven pallets arrived at TVP and the distribution schedule matched exactly the quantity delivered.

Despatch involved road and air freight with customs paperwork required for non EU countries.

Guess what, when we completed the last order, we had exactly the quantity on the order. Oh, and by the way everything arrived on time.

OUR EVER LOYAL STAFF

It’s easy to talk about what we do at TVP but without the dedication of the staff we wouldn’t get the jobs right or have the number of clients who keep coming back for more!

A couple of stars to mention:

  • Giles, who joined us in 1982 and apart from marketing covers every office based task. He also drives the forklift and the van.

  • Heather, 15 years and still going strong, “retirement, what retirement”, she has a telephone manner to die for.

  • Roy, I need 4 hands to count how many years he’s been with TVP. Heading up production, he has set the standards which mean customers jobs are ready on time and correct.

  • Geoff and Philip, they run the pick and pack section, the orders are shoved in at one end and leave TVP correct and well packaged. Sounds like a sausage factory!

  • Malcolm, van driver, warehouseman and order picker. Some clients actually ask for Malcolm by name if they have an urgent or difficult delivery.

  • One other very important member is Samir, who amongst other things makes everybody’s teas and coffees and fuels us through the day.
